Update: Get a refund on your movie tickets December 27, 2010

If you purchased the deal I posted on 9/28 (4 movie tickets for $20) and haven’t redeemed them yet, I have an important update for you! You can get a refund (and/or credit) on those tickets — BUT YOU NEED TO HURRY! Since they had an expiration date of 1/5/2011, I *think* you need to act on this refund/credit opportunity BY JANUARY 5th in order to get your money back.

Here’s the scoop:

“If any of your subscribers have tickets leftover from the Mamapedia $20 for 4 Movie Tickets deal they are no longer valid. I tried redeeming my last two tickets and was told they were expired (they don’t expire until Jan 5). When I went back through my emails and went to the Weekly Cinema website I received this message:

We regret to inform you that the Weekly Cinema program is being discontinued and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Mamapedia has informed us that they are processing credits or refunds for un-redeemed tickets related to coupons purchased from them and you should be hearing from Mamapedia shortly. Please check your Mamapedia account or contact their customer support at deals@mamapedia.com

Many thanks to Being Resourceful reader Torie for this update!

$20 for $40 @ Shoemall – FREE 2-DAY SHIPPING December 16, 2010

Here’s a great deal for anyone who wears shoes or knows someone who does… Ring a bell, perhaps? 🙂

My 2.5year-old little girl has been asking for “sparkly shoes.” (Well, actually, sparkly everything thanks to her Fancy Nancy books!) I’ve been wanting to pick up some Crocs flats for myself since nearly all of my shoes have heels on them, and heels aren’t the best thing to wear while recovering from a broken knee cap… I just scored a steal of a deal on these shoes and they’ll be here in just 2 days!

For just $20, I bought a gift certificate for $40 to Shoemall.com and got FREE 2-DAY SHIPPING! (Their shipping is always FREE, but they’re offering FREE 2-day shipping on orders placed by 12/19 — that’s this Sunday.) Click here to check out the deal for yourself!

Let those little elves deliver your holiday gifts to your door (or your gift recipient’s door), or save the gift certificate to use in the spring! The certificate doesn’t expire until June 19, 2011.

Expires: The deal lasts until all of the certificates are sold or on 12/19 — whichever comes first. (This deal is sure to sell out though!) The certificate is good through 6/19/11.

$7 for $15 GC to Republic Grill — Plano, TX December 9, 2010

Let me start off by saying how HUNGRY just writing this post is making me… Here’s a little bit of history. I moved to Austin, TX in the mid-90’s and one of my first meals there was at Texadelphia. I can still remember their slightly tangy mustard oozing out the end of my scrumptious cheesesteak…

Many years later, I’m now in Dallas and still enjoying that same delicious sandwich! The Texadelphia in Plano was bought by someone locally and the name was changed to Republic Grill. The name may be different, but let me assure you that those infamous cheesesteaks are still just as fabulous and well worth a trip.

For just $7 you can get a $15 gift certificate to Republic Grill in Plano, located SE of Spring Creek & Preston, off Preston in the Weir’s shopping center. $15 goes far at Republic Grill, and they’ve added burgers, salads, and sandwiches to their already amazing cheesesteaks.

This gift certificate is good through 6/7/2011, so it would be a great one to purchase, print, and keep handy for whenever you’re in that part of town, or for whenever you simply get a craving…

Expires: I’m not sure how long this deal will be available, but the gift certificates expire 6/7/2011.

$5 for $10 GC to Kolache Station Bakery – Plano, TX December 4, 2010

Before leaving town for Thanksgiving, my kids and I had a zillion errands to run. I wanted to bring something yummy to share with our holiday hosts, but simply ran out of time to bake a coffee cake. The Kolache Station Bakery in Plano came to the rescue! We bought sausage kolaches, fruit kolaches (raspberry and strawberry), and I just had to try one of their Bavarian Creme kolaches (don’t even get me started; it was divine).

Right now you can score a $10 gift certificate to the Kolache Station Bakery for just $5! This will go far when buying for the gang, your office, family, or friends. If I remember correctly, the kolaches were only about $7.50-12 per dozen — and these goodies are made from scratch, by hand! The certificate is good through 6/2/2011, but I don’t know when the deal will end.

I’ve been searching for 4.5 years in the northern ‘burbs of Dallas to find a place like this… Located at the NW corner of Parker & Independence, the shop is family-owned and operated, and you’ll see dad, son, daughter, and the rest of the owners’ family there when you visit. While we sat in the store to enjoy our breakfast (no, not all of what I bought made it to our Thanksgiving destination), we saw a steady stream of regular customers come in the door, often being greeted by name. One couple told me they’d been big fans for years, and advised me to try the cinnamon rolls. Apparently they’re simply amazing, and, yes, we will be back!

Expires: I don’t know when the gift certificate sale will end, but the certificates are good through 6/2/2011.

FYI, the Kolache Station Bakery has no idea I’ve written this. I am just a regular customer who had a great experience and want to share it. 🙂

GREAT holiday gift for under $20: Road ID

Thanksgiving morning I went for a short run in the neighborhood we were visiting. The sun had just come up, there was a nice cool breeze, and I was feeling strong. About 1.5 miles into my run, the tip of my running shoe hit an uneven patch on the sidewalk and I went flying — without my superhero cape — and crashed onto the concrete. My knee landed first, before my now-scraped hands could break my fall. Thankfully I had my cell phone with me to call my husband to come rescue me (there was no way my broken kneecap could have survived a crawl back to my in-laws’), but I can’t get out of my mind what might have happened had my head landed first.

Fortunately, I was wearing my Road ID wrist band with my name and emergency phone numbers on it (by now you know I’m Safety Girl). If I had been knocked out, my Road ID would have been an incredible help to the emergency personnel.

Road ID is something that I urge everyone to wear when doing anything outdoors — running, walking, biking, hiking, snowshoeing, etc. Their products range from the Wrist ID Sport (pictured in this post), for just $19.99, to a band for your ankle, a pouch to put on your shoe, or even a simple ID that fits on your shoe laces, and they come in a variety of colors. You can print up to 6 lines of text on the ID, and you can always order a replacement ID to fit on your strap if you ever move or need to change emergency contact info.

Right now, you can SAVE 10% OFF “all Road ID gear, including gift cards,” when you enter code PCFB10 at checkout. This brings the Wrist ID Sport, shipping and all, to just $19.48 (for an order shipping to Dallas). This is a GREAT holiday gift! (Order by 5pm EST December 14 for Christmas.)

If you know someone who doesn’t yet have one of these, I’d urge you to pass this deal along. I received the Wrist ID Sport as a Christmas gift from my in-laws last year, and it brings me great peace of mind. It even encourages me. The last line of text on my band says, “STRONG COURAGEOUS MOMMY.” If that doesn’t inspire you, I’m not sure what will!

Feel clueless as to what you’d put on your Road ID? Here’s what is on mine, to give you an idea:

  • MY NAME / YEAR OF BIRTH (Their site said having your year of birth is helpful for medical personnel.)
  • CITY, TX  USA (Just in case I am ever exercising on vacation – or in a sporting event – in another country.)
  • HOME 222-222-2222
  • HUSBAND 333-333-3333 (It literally just says “husband” instead of his name, and this is his cell number.)
  • SISTER 444-444-4444 (It literally just says “sister” instead of her name, and this is her cell number.)
  • STRONG, COURAGEOUS MOMMY (This helps me to keep going when I want to quit.)

Expires:  Their Facebook page just says that the code is good “through the holiday season,” so maybe it expires 12/31/2010?

Thanks, Road ID, for the code!
