Please do me a favor today — hug your dad if you see him, and call him to say “I love you” if you can. My dad went to Heaven 2 years ago today and I miss him dearly. I write Being Resourceful to not only share faulous bargains, deals, & freebies with you, but also to promote organ/tissue donation. If you haven’t yet registered or had a conversation with your families about your wishes, please click thru to Donate Life.
$20 for 4 movie tickets – that’s just $5 each! September 28, 2010
Oh, I remember back in the day when movies were just a couple of bucks to attend… and I remember the more recent days when my kids both fit into the “3 & under – FREE” category. Now it seems like it costs a fortune to hit the theater! This deal solves that problem!
Hop on board to snag 4 movie tickets for just $20 — that’s just $5 each! According to Mamapedia, “the tickets are good for ANY movies, including 3D and IMAX, shown in theatres that use http://www.fandango.com or http://www.movietickets.com,” so you should be able to use these across the country! You can even give this set of 4 tickets as a gift (surely this would make a great “thank you” gift for your child’s teacher or a coworker who did you a favor)!
Expires: Make your purchase by 9/30/10. You’ll need to redeem the voucher online by 12/31/10 and use the tickets by 3/30/11.
FREE drink at Starbucks September 27, 2010
Last week I opened our neighborhood newsletter and skimmed the articles. Garage sale, Boy Scouts, fence improvements, blah, blah, blah… FREE Starbucks drink. That one caught my attention!
If there’s a Kroger grocery store near you (or your commute) and it has a Starbucks store inside of it, listen up! According to the article, if you use your Kroger card when you buy your coffee drinks from the Starbucks inside Kroger, your 10th drink will be FREE!
I haven’t tried this one out yet, but as the weather turns cooler, you’d better believe I’ll give it a try. 🙂
Temporary technical difficulties… September 23, 2010
This is one of those times I miss working in an office with an IT department… My laptop is down with a virus, so I’m taking some time off from Being Resourceful while I get things figured out. I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy amidst the beginning of the cold and flu (ie. the “back to school”) season! Get those flu shots, all, and we’ll see you back here, hopefully VERY soon, with some fabulous deals!
Meanwhile, if you haven’t yet registered as an organ and/or tissue donor, please head over to http://DonateLife.net and register with your state’s directory. At the very least, as we approach the 2nd anniversary of my beloved daddy’s homecoming in Heaven, please talk with your family and loved ones about your wishes (and theirs), should any of you be in the position of becoming an organ and/or tissue donor. Heaven really doesn’t need your organs and/or tissue, and goodness knows we need them here.

SOLD OUT: $3 tickets to Plano (Hot Air) Balloon Festival September 16, 2010
UPDATE: I just checked the AdPages site (1:50pm CST 9/17/10) and the discounted tickets are sold out.
There is something just so incredible and serene about watching hot air balloons take flight. The woosh of the flame as it heats the air in the balloon, the sight of the balloons filling and taking shape, then watching them take their ascent upwards as they display their majesty in the sky. I wax poetic, but really, it is AWESOME!
THIS WEEKEND is the Plano Balloon Festival in Plano, TX, just north of Dallas. It is worth driving from near and far to attend, and is fun for all ages. We went a few years ago when my son was barely 2-years-old and he was stunned into silence! (And this is one chatty kiddo.)
Purchase advance tickets for just $3 each right now online! Tickets are regularly $5, and during 9am & 3pm they’re $4, but the balloons take flight at 6pm Friday, 7am & 6pm Saturday, and 7am & 6pm Sunday, so that’s when you’ll want to attend. (Note that kiddos 36″ & under are free.) Note that you’ll need to create a login/pw for AdPages to purchase this deal, but it is free and quick.
There’s even live entertainment on Sat night after the balloon launch, balloon glow, and fireworks — don’t forget your camera!
Expires: The tickets are good for Fri, Sat, or Sun this weekend (9/17-19/10), but there are a limited number of discounted tickets available and they’re going FAST.

Here’s a coupon for 33% OFF the list price of any one item at Borders or Waldenbooks. Print a coupon and take it with you to the store, or use code BAE8295M online at Borders.com (and get FREE SHIPPING on orders of $25 or more).
