Being Resourceful

A Savvy Shopper's Guide to Bargains, Deals, & Freebies

FREE 5×7″ photo print (BOGO) August 13, 2010

WalmartI’m not usually a big fan of “Wally World,” but here are a few good reasons to stop by Walmart in the near future. (1) Their organic foods section is growing. (2) Their school supplies are inexpensive. (3) You can get a FREE 5×7″ HP print when you buy one!

Time to pull out your favorite photo from this summer to print — one copy for you and one for the grandparents. Or, perhaps you have a couple of photos that you’ve been meaning to get printed for that collage frame that’s collecting dust in your office? Use this printable coupon at your local Walmart to get a FREE 5×7″ HP photo print when you buy one! Stop by the HP kiosk the next time you’re shopping.

Find an HP kiosk at a Walmart near you.

All together now… “YUM!!!!!” That’s what you’ll be saying when you read The Pioneer Woman‘s blog and see the amazing photos she takes of the scrumptious food she makes. Seriously, you may just gain 5 lbs by just reading this site.

Even better, she’s published a cookbook that is now available – The Pioneer Woman Cooks. You can get it from Amazon for $11.50 and FREE super saver shipping if you spend $25 or more in qualifying items. It is available from Walmart for $11.48 and $1.97 shipping.

This would make a fabulous gift if you’re into cooking. Heck, buy 2 copies – one for you and one to keep on hand for that last-minute gift or hostess gift you know you’ll need at some point.

Thanks to Slickdeals for the pricing and Jessica for the head’s up on this fabulous author!

$30 to save your life? November 19, 2009

I love this time of year! I get to pull out my sweaters and snuggle under blankets. The temperatures are dropping and the heater is kicking on. Did you hear that? The heater is kicking on. Well, let me tell you something that happened to me.

When my first child was just one week old, we lived in an old house in a cold part of the country. I was at home with our baby in the middle of the day and suddenly our carbon monoxide detector started going off. I grabbed our baby and dashed across the street to the safety of a neighbor’s home. Long story short, thank goodness we had that carbon monoxide alarm to detect that odorless deadly gas! Do you have one (or two) in your home?

If you don’t, here are some good deals on a carbon monoxide detector made by First Alert that operates using AC power and also has a battery back-up.

If you already have a carbon monoxide detector for your home, PLEASE consider buying these as gifts this holiday season. Don’t wait to put it under the tree… Wrap it up now and give it as an early holiday gift to be opened and used NOW.

Be resourceful. It may only cost you $30 to save a life, and that life may be your own.

$6.52 Sit ‘n Spin – an old-school toy at an old-school price! October 21, 2009

Remember the days when you’d spin yourself silly while you and three of your friends fit your little hineys on your Sit ‘n Spin? Relive the good ‘ol days for just $6.52! (Sorry, this doesn’t come with a guarantee that your hiney will shrink back to that old-school size.)

Print the $10 off coupon from Coupons.com, then head to your nearest WalMart to use it. Yes, this takes a couple of steps (more than the typical one click we do on BR), but what a DEAL!

If you don’t have a kiddo in your life who could use this, please consider picking up a Sit ‘n Spin to donate to a holiday toy drive in your area. We’re sure there’s a child out there who would simply love this.

Extra info:

  • When we tested the Coupons.com site this morning, the coupon was in the upper right-hand corner of page 7 of their coupons. Be sure to have your printer hooked up and ready when you click “print coupons” because it send them directly there, and you can only “clip” and print each coupon once.
  • WalMart is the suggested store because many locations have the toy for $16.52, but you can use the coupon anywhere coupons are accepted.
  • Prices vary store to store, so shop around! WalMart’s regular price is $19.96, but $10 off that is still a great deal!

Thanks, Heather!
