A Savvy Shopper's Guide to Bargains, Deals, & Freebies

$7 for $15 GC to Republic Grill — Plano, TX December 9, 2010

Let me start off by saying how HUNGRY just writing this post is making me… Here’s a little bit of history. I moved to Austin, TX in the mid-90’s and one of my first meals there was at Texadelphia. I can still remember their slightly tangy mustard oozing out the end of my scrumptious cheesesteak…

Many years later, I’m now in Dallas and still enjoying that same delicious sandwich! The Texadelphia in Plano was bought by someone locally and the name was changed to Republic Grill. The name may be different, but let me assure you that those infamous cheesesteaks are still just as fabulous and well worth a trip.

For just $7 you can get a $15 gift certificate to Republic Grill in Plano, located SE of Spring Creek & Preston, off Preston in the Weir’s shopping center. $15 goes far at Republic Grill, and they’ve added burgers, salads, and sandwiches to their already amazing cheesesteaks.

This gift certificate is good through 6/7/2011, so it would be a great one to purchase, print, and keep handy for whenever you’re in that part of town, or for whenever you simply get a craving…

Expires: I’m not sure how long this deal will be available, but the gift certificates expire 6/7/2011.

$5 for $10 GC to Kolache Station Bakery – Plano, TX December 4, 2010

Before leaving town for Thanksgiving, my kids and I had a zillion errands to run. I wanted to bring something yummy to share with our holiday hosts, but simply ran out of time to bake a coffee cake. The Kolache Station Bakery in Plano came to the rescue! We bought sausage kolaches, fruit kolaches (raspberry and strawberry), and I just had to try one of their Bavarian Creme kolaches (don’t even get me started; it was divine).

Right now you can score a $10 gift certificate to the Kolache Station Bakery for just $5! This will go far when buying for the gang, your office, family, or friends. If I remember correctly, the kolaches were only about $7.50-12 per dozen — and these goodies are made from scratch, by hand! The certificate is good through 6/2/2011, but I don’t know when the deal will end.

I’ve been searching for 4.5 years in the northern ‘burbs of Dallas to find a place like this… Located at the NW corner of Parker & Independence, the shop is family-owned and operated, and you’ll see dad, son, daughter, and the rest of the owners’ family there when you visit. While we sat in the store to enjoy our breakfast (no, not all of what I bought made it to our Thanksgiving destination), we saw a steady stream of regular customers come in the door, often being greeted by name. One couple told me they’d been big fans for years, and advised me to try the cinnamon rolls. Apparently they’re simply amazing, and, yes, we will be back!

Expires: I don’t know when the gift certificate sale will end, but the certificates are good through 6/2/2011.

FYI, the Kolache Station Bakery has no idea I’ve written this. I am just a regular customer who had a great experience and want to share it. 🙂

$2 for $25 restaurant gift certificates October 31, 2010

Last night was “date night” with my husband. We hired our favorite sitter for a few hours, the kids were smiling & happy when we left, and we saved $25 on our dinner out at a fancy restaurant! Oh, how did we accomplish that last part? Easy!

I bought a $25 gift certificate for us to use at a fabulous restaurant in town for just $2 on Restaurant.com! Hop over there TODAY and use code TREAT at checkout to snag this deal. I was excited to see several new restaurants added to the list in and close to my zip code. See what is new in your area.

Skeptical? Sound too good to be true? I was a skeptic too. So, I figured $2 was worth losing to try a deal this good. I’m a beliver! Give it a try. A link to the gift certificate is emailed to you (or you can print it immediately after making your purchase), and you print it at home. No need to wait on something to be mailed to you.

Be sure to read the details on each deal before you buy it. The restaurant I selected had a minimum $35 bill before the $25 was to be applied, which was easy to meet with an appetizer and 2 entrees!

Now, call your sitter and schedule that date night. 🙂

Expires: The deal expires TODAY — 10/31/10. Your gift certificate is usually good for a full year.

Last week I opened our neighborhood newsletter and skimmed the articles. Garage sale, Boy Scouts, fence improvements, blah, blah, blah… FREE Starbucks drink. That one caught my attention!

If there’s a Kroger grocery store near you (or your commute) and it has a Starbucks store inside of it, listen up! According to the article, if you use your Kroger card when you buy your coffee drinks from the Starbucks inside Kroger, your 10th drink will be FREE!

I haven’t tried this one out yet, but as the weather turns cooler, you’d better believe I’ll give it a try. 🙂
