Update: Get a refund on your movie tickets December 27, 2010

If you purchased the deal I posted on 9/28 (4 movie tickets for $20) and haven’t redeemed them yet, I have an important update for you! You can get a refund (and/or credit) on those tickets — BUT YOU NEED TO HURRY! Since they had an expiration date of 1/5/2011, I *think* you need to act on this refund/credit opportunity BY JANUARY 5th in order to get your money back.

Here’s the scoop:

“If any of your subscribers have tickets leftover from the Mamapedia $20 for 4 Movie Tickets deal they are no longer valid. I tried redeeming my last two tickets and was told they were expired (they don’t expire until Jan 5). When I went back through my emails and went to the Weekly Cinema website I received this message:

We regret to inform you that the Weekly Cinema program is being discontinued and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Mamapedia has informed us that they are processing credits or refunds for un-redeemed tickets related to coupons purchased from them and you should be hearing from Mamapedia shortly. Please check your Mamapedia account or contact their customer support at deals@mamapedia.com

Many thanks to Being Resourceful reader Torie for this update!

Over 50% OFF for family 4-pack to Dinosaur World October 18, 2010

This past summer I took my kids on a road trip to Glen Rose, TX, just southwest of Fort Worth. We visited Dinosaur Valley State Park, went on a safari at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, and even had a pizza & movie night in our hotel room. As it turns out, WE MISSED THE BEST PART of Glen Rose, when you’re in the dinosaur-wonder age group… DINOSAUR WORLD!

Now I have no excuse not to take the family back! Here’s a deal for a family 4-pack of tickets to Dinosaur World for just $22 (regularly $45, 2 adults & 2 kids).  The tickets are good for a full year (through 10/22/2011), so why not get them now to use next summer?

** When you make your purchase, there’s a spot just below where you enter your credit card information. It asks for a Referral Code. Enter code 4A84C.

Expires: The tickets for Dinosaur World expire 10/22/2011, but the deal ends on 10/21/2010.

$35 family membership to Sci-Tech Discovery Center (Frisco, TX) October 11, 2010

Sci-TechHold the presses! This is the BEST membership deal I’ve seen on the group buy sites! Just $35 gets your family a one-year membership to Sci-Tech Discover Center (located in Frisco, TX, southeast of the Dallas North Tollway & Main St.), hands-down the MOST FUN science & math museum and activity center in North Texas! If you have kiddos ages 0 – 12, or have family/friends with children in this age bracket, you NEED to check out Sci-Tech. Grandparents, I’m talking to you too. You can buy this deal as a GIFT or buy it for yourselves for when the grandkids come to visit!

I’ve been to Sci-Tech Discovery Center twice so far with my kids — once last year for their unbelievable Grossology exhibit (all things body-related and gross), and just this past week for their Math Midway exhibit (the kids were learning math and didn’t even realize it!). And, yes, I’m buying this membership and taking my family back there MANY more times in the next year! Sci-Tech fills a gigantic hole in North Texas… and I’m so glad they’re here!

So, here’s how to snag the deal and partake in Sci-Tech’s “mind stretching fun”:

(1) Create a Living Social account by clicking here. Just enter your email address and click the green button for “send me free daily deals” (you can turn this subscription off after snagging the deal – see step #4 below).

(2) You should now see the deal page for the $35 family membership to Sci-Tech Discovery Center. (If you don’t, click here.)

(3) Make your purchase! Here’s the fine print: “Limit 1 per person, buy as many as you’d like as gifts • Limit 1 voucher per family only • One voucher is valid for up to four family members only • Membership is for one year • Promotional value expires on 04/12/11”

(4) IF you want to unsubscribe from the daily deal emails, log in using your Living Social account you created while making your purchase (you may still be logged in if you *just* made your purchase). In the upper right hand corner, you should see “welcome back, [your name]”. Below that click the “my account” link. Next, click the “subscriptions” tab. Click the “x” on the right next to any of the cities for which you want to unsubscribe.  Voila! You’re done. 🙂

Expires: This deal is only for sale TODAY (10/11/2010), so hop to it! The membership is good for one year. I *think* you have until April 2011 to redeem the voucher (start your membership).
