I love this time of year! I get to pull out my sweaters and snuggle under blankets. The temperatures are dropping and the heater is kicking on. Did you hear that? The heater is kicking on. Well, let me tell you something that happened to me.

When my first child was just one week old, we lived in an old house in a cold part of the country. I was at home with our baby in the middle of the day and suddenly our carbon monoxide detector started going off. I grabbed our baby and dashed across the street to the safety of a neighbor’s home. Long story short, thank goodness we had that carbon monoxide alarm to detect that odorless deadly gas! Do you have one (or two) in your home?

If you don’t, here are some good deals on a carbon monoxide detector made by First Alert that operates using AC power and also has a battery back-up.

If you already have a carbon monoxide detector for your home, PLEASE consider buying these as gifts this holiday season. Don’t wait to put it under the tree… Wrap it up now and give it as an early holiday gift to be opened and used NOW.

Be resourceful. It may only cost you $30 to save a life, and that life may be your own.
