TONIGHT: Kids eat FREE at Tin Star in support of Lupus research (Allen, TX) October 6, 2010

TONIGHT IS NO-COOK NIGHT! Woohoo! I wanted to invite everyone out to Tin Star TONIGHT for dinner. One of our Allen residents (a mom with 2 young kids who is a dear friend of mine) is valiantly living with Lupus, and Tin Star in Allen, TX (on McDermott, in front of Lowe’s) is hosting a fundraiser night for us TONIGHT 4-9pm! 15% of all sales will be donated to the Alliance for Lupus Research, and KIDS EAT FREE with adult entree purchase (one kid per adult).

Don’t have time to dine in? Order your dinner TO GO! You’ll still be supporting Lupus research! Check out their menu here and then call (972) 396-7700 to place your order TONIGHT 4-9pm.

This is a fundraising event hosted by Heather’s Feathers, a team of Allen residents who will be walking on October 9th in the Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) “Walk with Us to Cure Lupus” in Dallas.

Why do we call ourselves “Heather’s Feathers”? Like birds of a feather, we flock together in support of our friend Heather. She’s a valiant mother of two young children who battles Lupus on a daily basis, and is a great ambassador for Lupus research and education. She’s opened our eyes to the disease, and we want to support her by helping to raise funds for finding treatment options and a cure.

We invite you to join our team (the more, the merrier!) and will very appreciatively accept your financial support at any level! To join our team or donate, click here then scroll to the team roster in the lower left-hand corner.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD by inviting EVERYONE you know to this fundraising event. We look forward to seeing you at Tin Star in Allen, TX TONIGHT!Here’s our team page:

Custom stamp to help “Stamp Out Breast Cancer” May 12, 2010

This is a GREAT deal for a GREAT cause… and I’m so passionate about this one after learning just this past week that a colleague of mine has a very rare form of breast cancer. She’s in her 30’s, the mother of two fabulous little girls, full of spunk and a great sarcastic wit, not to mention an amazing scientist and researcher. So, Corrie, in honor of you, I share this deal.

“From now until December 31, 2010, PSA Essentials is donating $4.40 for each Pink Ribbon Stamp to Susan G. Komen for the Cure® with a minimum guaranteed donation of $10,000. No discounts will be taken on Pink Ribbon Stamps or the PSA Pink Pack. For more information on breast cancer awareness, please call the Helpline at 1-877-GoKomen or visit”

This stamp (at just $45) would make a FABULOUS gift for anyone who has a residence — that’s just about EVERYONE! And who says it has to be a return address stamp? How about changing the wording to be “From the library of” or “Custom made for you by YOUR NAME”? And it isn’t just a stamp — it is a statement, a way to increase awareness about breast cancer while supporting breast cancer research at the very same time.
