$2 for $25 restaurant gift certificates October 31, 2010

Last night was “date night” with my husband. We hired our favorite sitter for a few hours, the kids were smiling & happy when we left, and we saved $25 on our dinner out at a fancy restaurant! Oh, how did we accomplish that last part? Easy!

I bought a $25 gift certificate for us to use at a fabulous restaurant in town for just $2 on Restaurant.com! Hop over there TODAY and use code TREAT at checkout to snag this deal. I was excited to see several new restaurants added to the list in and close to my zip code. See what is new in your area.

Skeptical? Sound too good to be true? I was a skeptic too. So, I figured $2 was worth losing to try a deal this good. I’m a beliver! Give it a try. A link to the gift certificate is emailed to you (or you can print it immediately after making your purchase), and you print it at home. No need to wait on something to be mailed to you.

Be sure to read the details on each deal before you buy it. The restaurant I selected had a minimum $35 bill before the $25 was to be applied, which was easy to meet with an appetizer and 2 entrees!

Now, call your sitter and schedule that date night. 🙂

Expires: The deal expires TODAY — 10/31/10. Your gift certificate is usually good for a full year.

FREE drink at Starbucks September 27, 2010

Last week I opened our neighborhood newsletter and skimmed the articles. Garage sale, Boy Scouts, fence improvements, blah, blah, blah… FREE Starbucks drink. That one caught my attention!

If there’s a Kroger grocery store near you (or your commute) and it has a Starbucks store inside of it, listen up! According to the article, if you use your Kroger card when you buy your coffee drinks from the Starbucks inside Kroger, your 10th drink will be FREE!

I haven’t tried this one out yet, but as the weather turns cooler, you’d better believe I’ll give it a try. 🙂

FREE tall coffee at Starbucks! July 28, 2010

StarbucksAh, tell me how wonderful is this?!?! Yes, there is a way to get a FREE tall coffee at Starbucks. No, you don’t have to answer any surveys, jump through any hoops, or promise me your first-born child…

So, I brew Starbucks coffee at home every. single. morning. The other day I looked closely at the bag and noticed that there’s an ad on the side of it that says, “Bring us your empty bag. We’ll give you a coffee.” FREE COFFEE! WOOHOO! (Yes, I’ve had my cup of coffee already this morning. Can you tell?)

Take a minute to read those bags — or bug a friend who brews Starbucks coffee at home — and save them for a day when you need a pick-me-up! The ad is black with white writing. Look for it! (I think it is just on the bags that you buy at non-Starbucks stores, such as Target, Kroger, etc.)

Oh, and have you heard that you can use your iPhone to pay for your Starbucks coffee at Starbucks locations within Target stores?!? Yep, there’s an app for that. This is pretty darn cool. Click here for more info.

Expires: 30 days after the “Best Before” date printed on your bag

(This is a re-post from April 2010, but well worth it since we have so many new friends visiting Being Resourceful and most people seem to not know about this fabulous deal!)

TODAY: FREE Frappe at McDonald’s July 9, 2010

To quote Robin Williams’ character in Good Morning, Vietnam, here’s today’s weather forecast: “It’s hot! Damn hot! Real hot!” Yep, that seems to hit the nail on the head right about now…

TODAY ONLY, cool off with a FREE frappe at McDonald’s — in mocha or caramel!

Now, I have to tell you I haven’t personally tried these yet, but just take a look at that mocha frappe in this post. McDonald’s site describes it as “one frosty cup of love: the coffee-chocolate goodness of mocha blended with ice, topped with whipped cream.” To me that sounds pretty darn close to a Starbucks Mocha Frappuccino, which I know I love!

My sources say this deal is good at “most” McDonald’s around the country, so it might be a good idea to give your local McDonald’s a holler before stopping by if the FREE frappe is your only reason for the visit.

Expires: Good only today, July 9, 2010

Thanks, Cha-Ching on a Shoestring!

Note: So, what made me think of the Good Morning, Vietnam reference? Memories of my dad and a movie we both loved. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He wasn’t drafted — he enlisted to serve our country. That’s just one of his amazing accomplishments. I write this blog in his memory, in hopes of getting more people to register to be organ/tissue donors or at least start the conversation with their families.
